One of the Pancha Aranya Sthalam known to be �VANNIVANAM� the Third in order. Uchikalam (Pooja performed in the Noon) is very famous in this sthalam.
Lord Vishnu in his Varaha avatar (wild boar) went deep into the earth searching for the feet of Shiva. Finally, not finding it, he gave up and came up in this place and meditated Lord Shiva, as a proof of it we can see pit (now it is closed) near the lingam inside the sanctum, hence called as Hari-dwara-mangalam. (hari = Vishnu dwara = Pit)
It is said in the row of panchaaranya sthalm we have to worship the lord at the time of 12 noon is special.
Three staged Rajakopuram east facing, Natarajar sabai, Pathanjali, Viyakabathar with sivagami are seen.
Inside the premises Vinayagar, Subramaniyar, Dhaksinamoorthy, Gajalakshmi and Ambal Shrines are there. There is Two Vannimaram in both end of temple.
